During these uncertain times of a declared pandemic, Mercy Connect continues to identify meaningful ways in which we can further support our participants.
I am pleased to confirm that we have decided to delay the planned 20 March Board and Lodging increase for the next six months, for all participants residing in Mercy Connect houses.
In accordance with the Residential Agreement with participants, Mercy Connect invoices 70% of the Disability Support Pension (DSP) for Board and Lodging of participants living in Mercy Connect accommodation.
Whilst Mercy Connect is able to claim 75% of the DSP, we only claim 70% which is currently sufficient to meet the budgetary requirements of these participants.
Twice a year, on 20 March and 20 September, participant Board and Lodging amounts are updated in line with DSP increases for those aged 21 years and over; this same concession applies to those aged under 21 years.
It is proposed that the September 20 increase will resume as normal; however, this will be formally announced closer to that time.
