My first week as CEO for Mercy Connect has been very special. I could not have asked for, nor expected, a more warm, generous and caring welcome into such an amazing organisation.
After my well-attended morning tea on the first day, and the chance to meet many wonderful participants and staff, I have already witnessed the Values of Mercy Connect being demonstrated and lived by everyone I meet.
The highlight for me was ending the week with the annual Dinner Dance where we had 179 participants, families, carers and staff in attendance. It was an honor and privilege to speak at this important event as we recognised those staff who have achieved significant years of dedicated service, and to celebrate all of our nominated participants, staff, individuals, groups and businesses, who, each day, represent our Mercy Connect Values. Inspired by Catherine McAuley’s legacy, our six values reflect the ethos of the Sisters of Mercy to enhance the wellbeing of others in our support, it was with great pride that we also launched our re-designed Values statements that evening too.
Our actions of compassion, hospitality, respect, innovation, teamwork and accountability bring us together in life, and at work, and guide and empower us all to be better. For it is together, and only together, that we can truly grow. I would like to acknowledge and thank those that have contributed towards their development, and encourage everyone to take some time to reflect upon these new posters, materials and handouts.
This is an exciting time for Mercy Connect, with our passionate teams committed to serving our participants, their families, friends and carers, and the wide Albury, Narrabri and Orange communities, to ensure each person we support lives a connected and meaningful life. I believe we are in a period of revitalisation; one where we must look inwardly, and outwardly, to ensure our organisation is ready to meet any future opportunities and challenges, whilst maintaining our reputation as a high-quality provider that ensures participants maintain their choice and control.
I look forward to meeting more of our participants and staff, and gaining a greater understanding of our clinical programs in the coming weeks.
